MayFest 2018!
The sun supposedly never shines on bank holiday weekends…well not this time. Last weekend we had wall to wall sunshine and the timing could not have been better! Saturday 5th May was the annual Gloucester Road Central MayFest and we had such a good time taking part. A brilliant Bristol celebration organised by lots of lovely local businesses, but in particular the amazing Sarah Thorpe from Room 212.
There was delicious food and drink, toe taping tunes, competitions and creative activities to keep everyone entertained. We loved painting lots of children’s nails a rainbow of colours and even had our own faces painted (you are never too old!) Grant Giles won a fabulous full body massage in our prize draw and it was truly wonderful to be part of such a great high-street celebration.
Jack in the Green and his happy band of dancers made their way up to us in the afternoon. They were en route to Horfield Common where they re-enacted a ritual to release the spirit of summer and their involvement has made MayFest the proper community event it has become. The day gave us all a great chance to mix and mingle and it was also a perfect opportunity to welcome our new neighbour Preserve, run by the lovely Tirial. This exciting new store is opening opposite the salon in June and the emphasis will be on zero-waste, shopping without plastic or unnecessary packaging. We just know they are going to fit right in and you can check them out at Preserve
We love being part of the Gloucester Road vibe and when the sun shines there is no better place to be. Thank you to everyone one involved this year and we are looking forward to the next one already.
