Spring is here!
I hope this month’s blog finds you well. As always, I just want to take a moment to say how much I appreciate everyone who chooses to support Icon Beauty. We’re so lucky to be part of such a wonderful local community, and it’s because of you that we continue to grow.
That’s why it’s heartbreaking to see so many brilliant independent businesses struggling. The rising costs of business rates and National Insurance are making it tougher than ever, and we were truly saddened to say goodbye to Boston Tea Party on Cheltenham Road last month. And now, the beautiful Wild Leaf has closed its doors too, a real loss to Gloucester Road and all of us who loved popping in for a little plant therapy.
But while times are challenging, there is still so much to celebrate. Our high street is filled with incredible local businesses, each one run with passion, dedication, and a whole lot of love. Every coffee you grab from an independent café, every book you buy from a local shop, and every beauty treatment you book with us makes a real difference. You are the heartbeat of our community, and together, we can keep it thriving.

Spring Window🌸
Have you seen our new window art? I absolutely love how the bright colours pop against the message “Spring reminds us how beautiful change can be.” The splashes of yellows, pinks, and fresh greens combined with the extra sunshine we’ve been blessed with lately have truly lifted all our spirits at the salon!
Spring really is making its presence felt – well, at least it was while I was writing this! The weather has been unpredictable recently but I’m convinced if I stay positive it will encourage the sun to stay! We may still have a few chilly days ahead, but I know before long, we’ll all be thinking about dusting off our sandals and booking in for those essential spring pedis.
A huge thank you to our incredibly talented Bex for creating another uplifting piece of art. She’s always full of inspiration and somehow manages to capture exactly what we need at just the right moment. Her beautiful artwork never fails to bring smiles to everyone who passes by our window! I’m delighted that Bex has shared a few words about her creative process and our collaboration below ⬇️

And I’m the proud owner of a freelance art business here in Bristol called Illustrate and Illuminate (Insta bexx_artist)
I have been working with Lucy for over three years now and she is one of my favourite clients! Lucy loves a very dramatic window design and we usually have a little chat and then I go away and research ideas. I get most of my inspiration from nature, so I often have something in the design which reflects this. For Lucy, there’s usually a message of positivity and strength to make people feel empowered and rejuvenated. This season’s design is Magnolia Flowers. They are bold and colourful and flower early in spring, kick-starting the pollinators and many people get lots of joy from them.
I take pride in the fact that most of my clients are strong, fierce, independent women and Lucy at Icon embodies all of these things.

Sophie’s Back!✈️
The salon hasn’t quite been the same without our lovely Sophie, but I’m thrilled to say she’s returned from her travels with her family absolutely glowing! All that sunshine and fresh air has worked wonders – she looks amazing and has brought back such wonderful energy with her. We’ve missed her laugh and positivity as Sophie’s such an integral part of our team and having her back feels like our little Icon family is complete again!
