No resolutions (we promise!)
Hello January,
2026 is well underway, and after a very full-on festive period in the salon, it feels good to ease into the year at a slightly gentler pace. This month’s newsletter is a little mix of team moments, conversations we’re having with clients, and a couple of things that have stayed with me recently, nothing big or dramatic, just the small things that feel meaningful right now. I hope you enjoy having a read.
Team Time
Before the year wrapped up, we managed to squeeze in a really lovely team night out at The Lost & Found and London Cocktail Club. We don’t often get the opportunity to go out together, especially in December when the salon is busy from morning to night, so it was such a treat to get dressed up, let our hair down and enjoy a cocktail or two (or three!) Nights like this are great because they’re a chance to relax, laugh, and spend time together as a team during the craziness of Christmas!
Things We Are Noticing
Through conversations in the salon, we’ve noticed a quiet shift in how January is being approached. Traditionally, this time of year has come with big promises, strict rules, and a feeling that we should all be fixing ourselves straight away. What we’re hearing now is a gentle move away from that all-or-nothing thinking. Less pressure to do “Dry January perfectly,” and more focus on small, realistic changes that actually last. One glass of wine doesn’t undo your progress. Missing a workout doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Often, it’s the consistent little things like more rest, a bit more kindness to yourself, and a longer-term mindset that make the biggest difference. Wellbeing isn’t about a dramatic reset; it’s usually a quieter, steadier way of looking after yourself.
Kind Words
“What keeps me coming back to Icon Beauty is how consistent it is, the same warm welcome and attention to detail every time. It’s friendly and down-to-earth, but still quietly professional.”
Receiving feedback like this at the start of a new year really means a lot to us. It’s a lovely reminder that the small, everyday things, such as a warm welcome, consistency, and paying attention to the details, are noticed and are what matter most. We’re genuinely grateful to everyone who takes the time to share their experience with us; it gives the whole team such a lift and reminds us why we’re so proud of what we do.
An Evening That Stayed With Me
I recently spent a really special evening at St George’s, one of my favourite venues, listening to poet Donna Ashworth. The evening included readings from Joy Chose You and reflections on Donna’s own journey and creative progress, but it was the poem Unstoppable that stayed with me most. Its message feels especially fitting for January, a reminder that strength doesn’t always come from pushing through, but often from allowing ourselves to pause, reset, and begin again in a quieter, kinder way.
My MAFS Favourite!
Back at St George’s Bristol, but this time for a different kind of night. I went to see Paul Brunson from Married at First Sight – my absolute guilty pleasure and absolute favourite programme (and one that gets talked about A LOT in the salon). I’ve always been a big fan, and he’s even better in real life!
The evening was funny, lively, and full of fab moments, with lots of insight into relationships, all delivered in a really down-to-earth, entertaining way. A great reminder that conversations about connection don’t always have to be heavy to be meaningful.
A Final Note
Thank you, as always, for reading and for being part of Icon, we never take it for granted. January still has its dark mornings and evenings, but knowing those lighter evenings are on their way feels quietly reassuring. Until then, we’re all about small comforts, steady routines, and looking after ourselves and each other.
Lots of love
Lucy x
