Six weeks into prep (and it’s still raining!)
I don’t know about you, but I’ve forgotten what dry hair and feet feel like! The rain just keeps coming, doesn’t it? Still, there’s something about mid-February that feels like we’ve turned a corner. The evenings are getting a bit lighter, Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and there’s a sense that spring might actually show up eventually. This month’s newsletter is a mix of what’s been happening in the salon, a bit about my competition prep, and a few thoughts as we head towards the 14th. I hope you enjoy it.
My Prep Story
Questions I’m often asked…
Have you started training again? I never stop training. I train 52 weeks a year. Are you bulking or dieting? I’m dieting. When are you competing? I’m competing from May onwards, and it will be my sole focus outside of the salon for the rest of the year. I’m always on plan, 365 days a year.
It’s early February, and I’ve just completed 6 weeks of my 20-week prep. People often ask why I love prep, and honestly, there are so many reasons. I get to see the results of all the hard work I’ve been putting in, with positive changes happening week by week. Having an end goal in sight keeps me driven, and those show dates give me a stronger sense of purpose. My motivation accelerates, the cardio increases my fitness, and I feel fitter and more confident as prep goes on.
The prep diet is extremely strict, and I know that sounds intense, but I genuinely enjoy the discipline and structure of it. There’s no deviating from the plan. You know exactly where you are and what to do. Ticking all the boxes every day gives me a real sense of achievement, little wins building up every single day and every week. I have three check-ins a week with my coach and one with my trainer. I fill out a daily tracker sheet that records my steps, hours of sleep, sleep quality, mood, stress, performance, training sessions, and any other relevant information.
I’m extremely excited to compete this year. I’ve made significant progress in my training skills and have put in a lot of work on my stage presentation. I feel more confident and have gained valuable experience over the last few years. My main goal this year is to enjoy it without the anxiety I’ve previously battled with and bring the best version of me that I possibly can.
New Window
The theme of
love

love
is continuing in our new window this month.
The number of compliments we get about it is wonderful. @bexx_artistm, we can’t imagine the salon without your beautiful art and inspiration. After weeks of continuous rain, looking out at it has been a real ray of sunshine! Thank you

Welcome Back!
This week, we welcomed Taylor back from her amazing travels around Thailand, and her photos are so stunning that we had to share a few! We’ve really missed you. You are such an integral part of salon life, and it is just not the same without you. But we’ve loved seeing you explore such a beautiful part of the world, but wish you could have brought a little bit of sunshine back with you

Gift Vouchers
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, sometimes the best gift is giving someone proper time to switch off and be looked after. Our gift vouchers work for any treatment in the salon – whether that’s beautiful nails, a relaxing facial, or a pedicure that actually gets finished without interruption!
They’re valid for a whole year and can be for any amount, so whoever you’re treating can choose exactly what they need. You can buy them online, call us, or drop into the salon.
Until Next Time…
Valentine’s Day brings mixed feelings for many. Some are excited about plans, others feel a bit flat about it all. But remember, love shows up in everyday moments too, maybe a friend checking in or just feeling comfortable in your own company. It doesn’t always need to be just hearts and flowers. However you’re spending it, I hope there’s something warm and cosy in your day.
Lots of love
Lucy x
