For many, it does what it says on the tin. It signifies a day (or a fortnight as it now seems) when big corporates and online brands reel customers in with that elusive deal.

It can be quite a worrying time with affects felt throughout November. Christmas shoppers hold back and it becomes a game of who blinks first.
